That first home game for the Gunners is one of the most eye-catching from Monday's fixture release, especially as it will see new Man City striker Vivianne Miedema go up against her old club straight away. Arsenal also end the season on a big note, at home to Manchester United. The Red Devils, meanwhile, kick things off at home to West Ham. Brighton vs Everton, Liverpool vs Leicester and Tottenham vs newly-promoted Crystal Palace are the rest of the opening weekend games.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chelsea have been crowned champions of England in each of the previous five years but the new campaign will certainly be different. That's because it'll be the first under former Lyon boss Sonia Bompastor after Hayes' 12-year stint came to an end in May, as she took over the United States women's national team. There are some testing fixtures early on for Bompastor, too, with Manchester United at home and Arsenal away coming back-to-back in October.

Fixtures for the 2024-25 season of the Women's Championship were also revealed on Monday, with London City Lionesses and Newcastle United going head to head on the opening weekend. The club from the capital are backed by the investment of Michele Kang, who also owns Lyon and the Washington Spirit, and have made a real splash in this summer window as a result. The same can be said of the Magpies, who recently signed Demi Stokes – one of England's Euro 2022 winners.
