ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Calafiori rejoined the Italian national team this week ahead of their Nation League group stage opener against France and was included in the starting lineup for the clash at the Parc des Princes. Although the 22-year-old had an impressive showing, the 70th minute of the game saw him leave the field due to an injury.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Calafiori's injury was sustained in a freak incident. Ousmane Dembele was sent flying by a challenge and unfortunately landed on the Italian, hitting his calf and his ankle. Arsenal will now have to wait to find out the severity of the injury. It would be a serious setback for Mikel Arteta if Calafiori is declared unfit for the north London derby with Declan Rice and Mikel Merino already sidelined due to suspension and injury.

DID YOU KNOW?
Takehiro Tomiyasu will also be sidelined for the Gunners, and while they continue their injury recovery, Gabriel Jesus and Kieran Tierney are also serious doubts for the clash against Tottenham Hotspur after the end of the international break.

WHAT NEXT FOR CALAFIORI?
The defender will likely be unable to return for Italy's next clash against Israel, however, Arteta will be hopeful to not lose another summer signing to injury as he looks to lead Arsenal in their third straight Premier League title fight.
