Tottenham Hotspur have had quite a strong history with American players over the years, with the likes of Brad Friedel, Clint Dempsey and DeAndre Yedlin all moving to north London to pull on the famous white jersey.

Spurs’ imminent move to a new stadium is always likely to impact their transfer dealings, such is the huge expense imposed on power brokers on Hotspur Way.

With that in mind, as Visit Britain are running an exciting competition to bring the biggest Super Fan in the world over to England, it’s time to take a look at FIVE astute additions from across the pond Spurs can bring in to help round out their squad.

Ronald Matarrita

Tottenham have a wealth of options in the full-back departments, though keeping them all happy may prove difficult for manager Mauricio Pochettino. Danny Rose has been linked with a big-money move away, so perhaps Spurs could be forced to look on the marketplace to find themselves a new lateral soon.

With that in mind, they could do far worse than NYFC star Ronald Matrarrita, who looks as robust in that position as they come.

Cyle Larin

Much has been made about Tottenham’s over-reliance on England international Harry Kane in the central striking position, though the imminent arena switch could make it difficult to land a big name forward.

So having said that, prolific Orlando City youngster Cyle Larin could be a relatively cheap option to back Kane up.

Ignacio Piatti

Sticking with the striker theme, only if Tottenham wanted more experience to bring into the squad. Though he’s not a natural centre-forward Ignacio Piatti of Montreal Impact could bring some goals into the side.

Andre Blake

With Pau Lopez only on loan at White Hart Lane, the ‘keeping positions for Pochettino could become a problem. Should the Spaniard depart and Michel Vorm become frustrated, Philadelphia Union star Andre Blake could provide a wise avenue to explore.

Sebastian Giovinco

The Italian international is simply too good to leave off a list like this. Absolutely the best player to ever play in the MLS, the 30-year-old could have a similar impact to Rafael van der Vaart at the club.
